A gas chromatograph needs gases to function. But more than that is often needed or helpful Synspec either supplies extra equipment needed or can advise you on the best solution in your country.

Stream selector: The gas chromatograph can monitor multiple points if it is connected to a stream selector unit with a pump and multiposition valve

To run a gas chromatograph calibration gas is needed.

Switch box: Synspec provided a simple switch box that can be connected easily to the rear of the system to switch between calibration span gas, if wished a zero gas measurement and the normal sample.

A new larger switch box unit can also contain a sample permapure dryer and optionally a simple permeation oven.

The Synspec GCs are normally applied for continuous control, the measurement results have to be transmitted to data loggers, alarm systems etc. Many options for data communication are available.

Calibration gas switchbox

Synspec has developed a sample and calibration gas unit that is useful for complex analysers.
In this 19”housing the following is contained:

Switch between span, sample and zero air.
Permapure dryer with zero air drying facility
Simple permeation oven for validation run at 40 oC with zero air, to be used with up to 3 tubes.
A filter holder at the sample inlet.

his box can provide a conditioned sample and calibration gas to one or two GCs.
Complex connections of tubing at the rear of the systems are avoided, damage to Permapure by other tubing or cables is avoided.
 

Gas generator

A gas chromatograph needs a carrier gas to separate the compounds to be measured.
Some detectors need extra gases as well.
The calibration system needs zero air or sometimes nitrogen to run.
The quality required is 99.999% pure for the sensitive low ppb range analysers.
For ppm or percentage analysers a lower grade gas can be used.

The choice is to buy these gases supplied in bottles with a suitable pressure reducer or to buy a gas generator.

Calibration equipment

To run a gas chromatograph calibration gas is needed.
A permeation oven where permeation tubes are flushed at constant temperature with a low flow of gas, normally combined with a diluting system
A high concentration calibration gas bottle with a diluting system
A low concentration gas bottle

For automatic validation of the calibration a switch between sample, span gas and if wished zero gas is needed. In the Alpha and Delta an internal switch can be used, in a Syntech Spectras GC955 this must be connected externally.

Sample conditioning unit

December 2013 Synspec has created a new sample conditioning unit.With this unit the drying of a sample is much better controlled. For instruments with cooled preconcentration traps this is a huge imporvement.

Multi channel selector


 
With our multi channel selector it is possible to measure up to 15 different streams with one GC. The streams are measured as programmed.
The GC software controls the multi channel selector. This software makes it possible to program the time sequence in which the channels are to be measured. A sequence of 20 steps (for 15 channels) makes it possible to measure some channels more often than others.
 
The software contains features to calculate individual alarms per stream, to calculate TWA values, to use one of the streams for calibration and many other things.
 
The multi channel selector is normally mounted on top of the GC. The provided RS232 cable is attached, and the sample line from the GC is attached to the Sample-out connector of the selector.
 
The multi channel selector is working with all Synspec’s GC types, GC955 as well as Alpha and Delta.
