Synspec offers a combination of a water purge unit with a suitable gas chromatograph for the measurement of toxic hydrocarbons in water.
The water purge unit has a pump to sample the water from the source, the water is heated to a stable temperature. Then a purging stream of small gas bubble (nitrogen or zero air) is lead through the system. An equilibrium is reached in the division of the hydrocarbon between the solved phase and the gas phase.
The gas is dried and lead to the gas chromatograph, either a GC955, an Alpha or a Delta. In this the hydrocarbons are separated and quantified.
The water purge is controlled by the industrial computer in the GC.
